Story Catchers Short Film Challenge For Nayri Niara Festival

In March 2019, I volunteered to co – facilitate a workshop as part of the Nayri Niara Festival. It was completely spontaneous in nature and a lot of fun in the making of. I mentored 3 young kids in basic film making techniques: to shoot, edit and capture the spirit of the festival by in this short in less than 6 hours!

An incredible result and achievement by the kids, to experience their films on the big screen during the closing ceremony, in front of 100’s people was a real buzz from them!

Chauncy Vale Wildlife Sanctuary

In 2018/19 for 9 months, I was the volunteer caretaker of Chauncy Vale Wildlife sanctuary living in a residence on site. This experience took me deeper into connection with land and appreciation for it’s nature. I was involved in fundraising events, management meetings, built a new website, networked with schools and community groups, organised events and developed programs and activities. I also guided walks and interpretive tours of the sanctuary and visits to Nan Chauncy’s (An award winning Australian children’s author) heritage listed homestead. I was the recipient of the 2018/19 Southern midlands community grant. With this funding, I produced this series of videos “People Of Chauncy Vale” exploring the stories of it’s past, present and future to be used as a resource to educate schools and community groups about the cultural, historical, natural and conservation values and help protect this peaceful sanctuary for future generations to come visit.

The Great Canadian Wild

It was challenging, after 4 years building We Travel Co in Australia it was like starting again. Here’s a taste of what went down.

Working With 4WD Action

During 2014 I had the opportunity to work on a adventure travel documentary DVD series for 4WD Action magazine. My role was to shoot and edit 45 min program as part of a commercial dvd that is distributed online and at news agencies nationally every 3 weeks. I’ve done alot of travel in Australia but during my 6 months working for 4WD Action I got to work and travel to some of the most remote and beautiful places in Australia. It wasn’t long before I took on the role of producer and director. This was a challenging but rewarding role, pre-production of shoots back in the office , location scouting, In the field I was managing up to 9 crew members, having to think on my feet when plans changed or unforeseeable circumstances arose which they always did! Every DVD shoot was non-stop where a standard day was up at the crack of dawn for filming. Outside of getting content for the travel segments, there was  sponsor and commercial filming obligations and creation of branded content. The working day would go well into the night capturing, checking and backing up data. Hard work aside, it was an amazing opportunity and I look forward to working on many more projects like this one in the near future.

We Travel Co Web Series

I began a project to travel and document my experience around Australia in February 2012.  Joined by over 50 travellers from around the world, this web documentary series aims to inspire and help young travellers from Australia and abroad to discover the REAL Australia, the places, the people and  the culture .  I also worked on the design and oversaw the development of a multi-platform website in which users can experience the journey. You can watch the whole web series online at http://wetravelco.com/ ,   I have a small but strong following both in Australia and internationally. Here’s an article one of the travellers that joined me wrote about We Travel Company  http://glober.tv/en_CA/blog/2013/07/the-east-coast-of-australia-on-the-road-of-exploration/114/

Below are some video highlights of the journey.
